It's a Small World After All

It's been over thirty-seven years since I have seen the M/Sgt in this picture.  I saw his name in thefew.com Guest Book recently; sent him an E-mail and he replied.  That is his son in the picture with him 2nd Lt. Doug French.  (Picture is from the Jan 2002 issue of Leatherneck magazine.)  After all of these years I had all but given up on ever contacting anyone I was stationed with back in the early 60's.  It seemed that either none of them went on to the cyber world or if they did, they were in hiding.  Since I worked in communications and not G2, I didn't have the resources at hand to locate anyone and had to rely on various forum guest books and such.  Well, finally it paid off and I have contacted a Marine who I had much respect and admiration for.  I worked on his watch in the Base Communications Center at CamLej for a short period of time in his illustrious career.  I am surprised and honored that he would remember me at all.  I was very impressed with his work ethic, his dedication to the Marine Corps and the way he treated his fellow Marines.  M/Sgt Carroll French served from 1954 - 1975.  He retired and began a new career in real estate in the state of Washington. He retired again in 2004.
Semper Fidelis and thank you:
For your service to our country,
For leading by example,
For upholding the spirit of the Corps,
And for remaining the Marine I knew you to be so many years ago.
